AQB Decreases Required Education and Experience

It just got easier to get your Appraiser’s license in Alabama. The Appraiser Qualifications Board of the Appraisal Foundation formally adopted changes to theReal Property Appraiser Qualification Criteria that became effective on May 1, 2018. These changes represent the minimum national requirements that each state must implement for individuals applying for a real estate appraiser license or certification as of May 1, 2018. The changes include decreased required education and experience.

Board Sponsored Education Course

We’ve now had three offerings of “Common Mistakes Found During Investigations”. These offerings were in Montgomery, Jasper, and Oxford, with two more scheduled in Spanish Fort and Huntsville before the end of this fiscal year. I’m excited to say that we’ve had great attendance in all offerings with excellent and very positive feedback.

Customary and Reasonable Fee Survey

At their January 15, 2015 Board meeting the Board voted to have Miss Conway start the process to allow the Board to conduct a customary and reasonable fee survey. An amendment to the Administrative Code was written and the Board approved the language at the May 2015 Board meeting. A public hearing on this proposed rule was held at the July 2015 Board meeting.

Board Sponsored Education Course

At their September 18, 2014 meeting the Board began discussions regarding a Board sponsored course that would be presented by the Board investigators. This course would cover the most common mistakes the investigators find during their investigations.
