Appraisal Management Company (AMC) Oversight

Appraisal management companies (AMC) are business entities that administer networks of independent appraisers to fulfill real estate appraisal assignments on behalf of lenders.  In other words, they are a management company that will act on behalf of appraisal users. The Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act of 2010 requires that states enact comprehensive AMC oversight and registration programs.

Federally regulated AMC means an AMC that is owned and controlled by an insured depository institution, as defined in 12 U.S.C. 1813 and regulated by the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System, or the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation.
